For Immediate Release
A charity art exhibition to inaugurate the opening of a new gallery, in which a collective of 17 Thai contemporary artists will provide the backbone of the event with new works.
Dates: Thursday, June 5 — Sunday, August 10, 2003
Opening: Thursday, June 5, 2003 at 7 pm.
ALL profit goes towards Friends for All Children Foundation.
Framework for Exhibition
Taking inspiration from the address and name of the gallery, 17 artists are each given a wall or floor space of 100cm and contributes one or a few pieces, depending on how each artist plans to utilise the space.
It is as if the individual works is suggested as markers to bring out the existence of the gallery. Thematic is decisively avoided; instead, the way to access the exhibition is to read and look across the art searching for connections, contradictions and challenges to preconceptions — an exercise which can provide new and wider insights.
We cordially invite you to the opening on Thursday, June 5 2003 at 7 pm. For further enquiry, please call Khun Aey at +661-806 5855 or Khun Josef Ng at +669-160 8898, watsuthat@yahoo.com.

Gallery Background
Named after its street address, 100 Tonson Gallery is housed within a private residence and has a total floor space of 100 sq. m. A box-like structure of concretized flooring and walls, the interior also offers a high ceiling with softly filtered natural beam from the skylights. Glass panels at the entrance provide a friendly and uninterrupted view into the gallery space.
100 Tonson Gallery’s key aim is to push the potential of contemporary art and examine the current directions in visual culture. Through initiating greater participation in the arts, it strives to develop an awareness of contemporary art practices between the artists and the general public.
To the gallery, virtue is the key. There are no artistic boundaries as to the kind of exhibitions the gallery intends to show. Each art creation has its own merit. Works on display here can range from painting, sculpture, photography, installations, new media and conceptual-based art.
An ongoing commitment at 100 Tonson Gallery is that part of the proceeds from all exhibitions will go towards charity organisations.
